Coroner identifies second victim in Bourbon County double murder; suspect due in court
BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Bourbon County Coroner has confirmed the identity of the second victim in last week’s double murder. According to Coroner DeeGee Roe, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Charles “Chuck” Callaway of Mobile, Alabama.
Roe told ABC 36 NEWS NOW that Callaway was positively identified by tattoos on his body, and, that he was living with the other victim, Dixieana Brainard, in Lexington.
Callaway was one of two victims killed in an incident that occurred last Thursday. Brainard was reportedly the mother of a child she shared with the suspect, 19-year-old Christopher Taulbee of Carlisle.
According to investigators, Taulbee is accused of fatally shooting Brainard and then stabbing and hitting Callaway with a baseball bat, resulting in his death. Authorities say Callaway was in a relationship with Brainard at the time of the incident.
Taulbee is charged with two counts of murder and is scheduled to appear for arraignment Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Bourbon District Court.
The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
