LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Kentucky men’s basketball fans will remember Mark Pope’s latest transfer portal pickup well from about a year ago.

Jayden Quaintance, who committed to UK under former head coach John Calipari, is back in blue according to a report from ESPN.

After Calipari left for Arkansas a year ago, Quaintance decommitted and went to Arizona State.

He comes to the Bluegrass after playing his freshman year as the youngest player in all of college basketball, averaging just over nine points, seven rebounds and just under three blocks per game.

Quaintance is the fourth commit from the portal this offseason for Pope, who has signed two guards and two forwards thus far.

The Cleveland, Ohio product hasn’t played since late February and is rehabbing an ACL injury sustained versus Kansas State that required surgery.

His’s father, Haminn Quaintance, tells ESPN that his son should be cleared for full contact in November when the 2025 basketball season begins.
