Unusual copperhead sighting in London
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The U.S. Forest Service says a young copperhead was found, which is unusual for this time of year because they are usually hibernating.
Officials say the copperhead was found in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Copperhead snakes typically hibernate in dens made up of rocks, inside logs and in holes carved out by mammals, and even in stumps and caves.
They hibernate from October to late-February or March, and may even be sharing a den with timber rattlesnakes, rat snakes, or other species.
