Bond denied for eastern KY woman accused of sending sexual photos of toddler
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) — A federal judge denied bond for a Pike County woman accused of child pornography.
29-year-old Christina Brook Mitchell of Pikeville remains in jail, after a court document says she took naked photos of a toddler in a sexual pose and sent them to her boyfriend.
Mitchell wanted to be released pending trial but the federal judge denied her request.
She is charged along with her boyfriend Jonathan Edward Manigault of South Carolina.
According to the arrest citation, Mitchell was arrested in June after Pikeville Police received a tip that she had pictures of a three-year-old girl in a sexual pose on her phone.
The citation goes on to say Mitchell showed police an image of the small child on her phone when they went to interview her.
The FBI says Manigault told Mitchell what he wanted to do with the three-year-old and another child. He also told her how he wanted her to pose the children.
Mitchell confessed to taking photos of the toddler as well as another girl under the age of eight, court documents show.
Documents also say Manigault had contact with the girls and told Mitchell he had touched one of them.
Mitchell will be held in custody until trial which is scheduled for January.
Manigault’s whereabouts are not known at this time.
If convicted, both could face at least 15 years in prison.
