Harlan County High School placed on lock down Thursday

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Harlan County High School was placed on lock down Thursday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from Harlan County Public Schools.

The post says the lock down was to allow a drug detecting canine to search the building, along with Harlan County and Bell County sheriff’s deputies.

Harlan County Public Schools says while there was no suspicion of drugs in the building, Superintendent Brent Roark says this step was taken to promote student safety.
