Lab-Grown Diamonds Are Real
Lisa: Welcome back to Good Day Kentucky. When you think diamonds, you would likely think tradition, love, commitment, and forever. Well, now you can also think affordable fashion jewelry, accessible pricing, fun, and stunning. And a new company is transforming the lab-grown diamond sector by offering high-quality lab-grown diamond at accessible prices. Something that consumers have been calling for, but it hasn’t been available until now. And joining us with more, and a live diamond demonstration is Sally Morrison, CMO of Lightbox Jewelry. Welcome to the show, Sally.
Sally: Thanks so much for having me, Lisa. Nice to be with you.
Lisa: You know what, I thought this was so … I was so excited first of all, when I knew that you were gonna be coming and talking about lab-grown diamonds. How fun is this? So, what exactly is the lab-grown diamond and how does it differ from what we’ve always thought of as a typical diamond?
Sally: Well, a lab-grown diamond shares the same optical, chemical, and physical properties as a natural diamond. The difference is that instead of coming from deep in the earth over billions of years, this is a product that is made literally in a lab and takes about two weeks to make. And we can make them consistently over time and so they’re not rare, and therefore, we’re able to price them much more affordably. And everything you see today is available at $800 a carat. So, much more opportunity for more people to participate.
Lisa: Wow. Now what has consumer research been telling you about who would want lab-grown diamonds and why?
Sally: I think consumers have told us that they were interested in lab-grown diamonds for life’s lighter moments, so for non-milestone occasions, for birthdays, for holidays. Perhaps a travel jewelry, a great pair of studs they can throw on and not be quite so nervous about losing because they’re not an heirloom. So, we have put together a collection of simple, beautiful jewelry. It looks great, but it’s not quite such a commitment to buy and to wear.
Lisa: Exactly, and we can see them on your table. Can you tell us about some of the items that you have on display?
Sally: Sure. Well, we have here a very beautiful collection of what we call Halo jewelry. It’s super popular right now. It’s a center stone and then with white micro pave surround. We have really beautiful ones here, super sparkly. We have them with blue center stones or with pink center stones. And it’s very important to know, so these are blue and pink diamonds, but unlike the very natural, rare, precious colored diamonds, these are just like everything else, $800 a carat. So, for me, I think it’s an exciting opportunity for consumers to be able to have, what is effectively a completely new product, that something that has been so rare in the past that they probably haven’t even seen it.
Lisa: They are absolutely beautiful. Now are these diamonds a good gift option for occasions that don’t call for a natural diamond or for the upcoming holiday season, let’s say?
Sally: I think they’re a great gift diamond because of the pricing, you don’t have to think quite so hard about it. And certainly even people who have great diamond jewelry, maybe a little pair of pink studs or blue studs is a nice addition to anybody’s jewelry wardrobe.
Lisa: Well, they are absolutely beautiful. And where can people go for more information about these lab-grown diamonds?
Sally: Check them out at lightboxjewelry.com.
Lisa: Awesome. Well, thank you so much for being with us. We really appreciate it and we will be back. You’re watching Good Day Kentucky.
