Kentucky Blood Center

The Kentucky Blood Center is celebrating 50 years of saving lives.
Martha Osborne was in to tell us how they plan to commemorate the occasion.
This summer KBC is celebrating 50 years of saving lives in Kentucky. To help celebrate that anniversary, KBC is giving away a new SUV to one lucky blood donor. This giveaway also helps to encourage summertime donors during the months when blood donations can typically lag.
Currently, blood donations are down, and KCB is encouraging anyone who is eligible to donate soon.
Anyone who registers to donate will be automatically entered to win a 2018 Toyota 4runner. (must be at least 18 years of age at time of donation to be eligible.) the giveaway period is may 21 through Sept. 7.
Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is a local blood bank whose sole purpose is to provide blood for Kentucky patients in Kentucky hospitals.
KBC donor centers are located in Lexington, Louisville, Pikeville and somerset with daily mobile blood drives throughout the region.
Lexington donor centers are located at 3121 Beaumont center Circle and in the Andover Shoppes off Maple Leaf and Man-O-War Blvd.
KBC is local and headquartered in Lexington. All blood collected by KBC is processed and prepared in Lexington for distribution to Kentucky hospitals. This differs from other blood centers that send their blood out of state for processing and then distributes it throughout the country.
