Semifinals set for the 11th Region Basketball Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- The semifinals are set for the 11th Region Championships at Paul Laurence Dunbar this week.

Girl’s 11th Region on Thursday March 6

Franklin County vs Frederick Douglass at 6 p.m.

Madison Central vs Lafayette at 8 p.m.

Finals take place on Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m.

Boys’ 11th Region on Saturday March 8

Great Crossing vs Bryan Station at Noon

Lexington Catholic vs Frederick Douglass at 3:30 p.m.

Finals take place on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m.

Last Season Look-Back

In 2024 on the girl’s side, Franklin County beat Frederick Douglass in the finals to book their spot in the Sweet Sixteen. A rematch of that game is on deck for the semifinals this week.

Three schools (Douglass, Franklin County and Madison Central) are returning from 2024’s girl’s tournament with Lafayette as the newcomer.

Three teams from last year’s 11th Region boy’s semifinals (Douglass, Lex Cath and Great Crossing) return this year. The newcomer is Bryan Station.

Last year’s boy’s tournament had last second drama as Great Crossing beat Lexington Catholic for the Warhawks to advance to the state finals.
