Kitchen fire causes significant damage at Miyako Sushi and Grill on Richmond Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at Miyako Sushi and Grill on Richmond Road, causing significant damage to the restaurant’s kitchen.

According to Battalion Chief Matt Galati, fire crews received a call about a structure fire at 3:23 p.m. and upgraded it to a working fire when they got on scene. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the vents of the building.

No one was inside the restaurant when the fire started, and no injuries have been reported. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and are now working to ventilate the building.

Chief Galati said the damage to the kitchen is extensive, and the restaurant will not be able to reopen anytime soon. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
