Alabama sweeps series with Kentucky with 96-83 victory in Tuscaloosa
TUSCALOOSA, AL. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The cats were yet again without Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson on Saturday, making an already difficult game even harder.
Star-guard Otega Oweh, who had scored double figures in every other game this season, tallied just two points against Alabama. He was 1-9 from the field, and benched with foul trouble in the second half.
Koby Brea stepped up and led the team with 20 points, knocking down four 3-pointers. Amari Williams had a double-double 17 points and 11 rebounds. He also added on a team-leading six assists. Andrew Carr had 17 points and Travis Perry put up 12.
However, Alabama was the number one scoring offense in the country, and they showed it. Mark Sears led the tide with 30 points. Alabama also took advantage of Kentucky’s mistakes, turning the cats 13 turnovers into 24 tide points.
Alabama had 15 turnovers themselves, but Kentucky couldn’t capitalize as well, only earning 11 points off those 15.
The crimson tide also had 23 fast break points to the cats six.
Kentucky is now 18-9 overall and 7-7 in the SEC.
