Triple Crown Cat Fanciers Show- The Cats
Lyssa: welcome back, guys. We are here with Mrs. Paige and she is a Maine Coon breed, is that right?
Ashley: yes, ma’am. Maine Coon. It’s a long haired. She has, whenever you’re looking at being judged, the judges are looking for different structures. This cats going to have more tall, big ears, a nice round head. They love to be petted and just played with. They’ve got long legs, long tail, fluffy. They love to be-
Lyssa: beautiful. Beautiful cat. So, yeah, what are some of the things that the judges are going to be looking for with the cats, because you have the long haired cats but you also have short haired cats that are going to be there too?
Ashley: well, it honestly depends on the breed. We actually have the short hair coming in right now. It’s a Russian Blue. Oh, sorry. It’s going to have just about the same … They’re always looking for different structures with the leg and the body depending on what cat it is, it’s going to be longer or short. The legs are going to either be longer or shorter, as well. Different cats have really tall ears versus other ears. There’s scottish folds where their ears are actually folded over their heads, and we might have some at the cat show.
Lyssa: wow.
Ashley: which we don’t have any today though.
Lyssa: hi honey. Beautiful eyes.
Ashley: but they’re all different. Their faces, they look at their face structure, and their eye color, as well.
Lyssa: aw, just a beautiful, beautiful cat. Now in this … This show is going to be where again? Where is this going to be located?
Ashley: at the indoor soccer stadium off of Reynolds Road right past Meijer.
Lyssa: and tickets are going to go. Are they on sale right now on the website?
Ashley: well, we actually don’t sell tickets until we just … It’s just come to the door and pay.
Lyssa: five at the door.
Ashley: you can get the coupon online at the Triple Crown Cat Fanciers if you go to our Facebook page and it is going to be all day from nine to five on Saturday and nine to four on Sunday.
Lyssa: so, when people come to the event, what’s the line up of events? Is it the agility first, and how does that line up?
Ashley: we actually don’t have a schedule. It’s just each ring does their own set of judging and with the agility, it just depends whenever a cat’s ready to go over. They’ll take cats all day long so there’s not really a set schedule of events. We do have a giant vendor’s mall as well. It’s going to have about 50 vendors. We have-
Lyssa: you’re going to have all the cat products and all kind of things for people to look at.
Ashley: yes. Face painting. Free face painting for children.
Lyssa: oh, nice. How fun.
Ashley: beer for the men.
Lyssa: they’re probably going to need it. So yeah, this cat is beautiful. I’ve never seen a cat that looks like this before ever. What kind of cat is this?
Assistant: it’s an oriental short-hair
Lyssa: oh, it’s just gorgeous.
Assistant: she’s exactly 16 weeks today.
Diane: she’s just a baby. She’s just eligible to get into the show hall and this is one of the examples of our most extreme. We’ve gone from the long hairs all the way through to the shortest coat that we have. Some of them don’t have any at all. They don’t have any coat. Now, having said that, orientals … We’ll see how she’s been practicing. Ah, she’s still wiggling. That’s okay. We’ll do it this way. There we go. There.
Lyssa: she’s a rookie. Aw. There she is.
Diane: that’s what the good judges are looking for. Beautiful. This is a Tabby, a brown Tabby I think, in the oriental, right?
Lyssa: well, ladies, thank you. Thank you so much for being here and thank you for having us here too. It’s wonderful. Good luck with your event and again, go to the website. We have all of your information up on the screen, but go to the website and then show up for the show. It’s not very expensive and you’re going to have a great time, so keep it right here. We have more good day coming up.
