Triple Crown Cat Fanciers Show-Event History

Lyssa: Hey guys, I am here with Diane and Ashley and we are talking about the Triple Crown Cat Fanciers Show that’s going to be happening this weekend, right?
Diane: yes.
Ashley: yes, thanks.
Lyssa: all right. Well, welcome to the show. Thank you so much for having me.
Diane: thank you for coming.
Ashley: thank you for having us.
Lyssa: well, you know what, this is so much fun. I love the idea of a cat show. It’s so reminiscent of, of course, the Westminster Dog Show. When I read this, that I was going to be doing this interview, I was so excited to talk to you all because it sounds like the craziest thing. Most people, we would think, how in the world can you get cats to do agility and all of that, how is that possible?
Diane: it’s a little fun sometimes, a little hectic, but we work with the cats just like they do with the dogs.
Lyssa: and you know what? Your club, the Triple crown Cat Fanciers Club is part of a larger organization too, it’s kind of under the umbrella of the CFA, is that right?
Diane: correct, yes, and we were established in the mid to late 1800’s, and CFA, their home office initially was in New York. Just recently, within the last few years, they’ve moved to Alliance, Ohio, and we have our home office there now so we’re based there, but we’re actually a world, international, all over the world, China, Indonesia, Hawaii.
Lyssa: we talked a bit about.
Diane: yeah.
Lyssa: we do, but that’s alright.
Diane: then you end up in the United States, across the United States. For any given weekend, including holiday weekends sometimes, we’re in a cat show.
Lyssa: well, okay, what can people expect when they come to a cat show, what can they expect? And is there a cost, also?
Ashley: yes, it depends on your age. Children are, is it-
Diane: 0 to 6, that’s what I tell everybody. $0 for the kids, and then all the way up to a full admission, which would be $6. We have a sliding scale on your age.
Ashley: and you can go to our Facebook website page, if you go to Triple Crown Cat Fanciers Cat Show there is a coupon for $1 off.
Lyssa: well that’s nice!
Ashley: it’s gonna be at the indoor soccer stadium off of Reynolds Rd., and we’re gonna have all different types of vendors as well as cat trees and cat toys where you can get all your cat goodies. There’s gonna be a giant raffle, both two day and one day. We’re also gonna have different concessions as well.
Lyssa: it sounds like it’s gonna be a fun event, it really does. Now what are some of the older breeds of cats versus the newer breeds, and you also have a division now for household cats, is that right?
Diane: yes we do. The earliest breed that we had, the first registrations start and all they had were Persians. Now, as a Persian, we’re gonna bring up here, if you want to just show him. This is a modern day Persian, when they started out their noses were a little bit longer and bodies were a little bit longer too, but this is where we came from initially, was our first breed.
Lyssa: and we have all kinds of breeds .
Diane: and we have a lot more coming up.
Lyssa: awe, well thank you so much. We have to go to break, but we’re gonna be back and we’re gonna be talking more about the cats, and also more about the competition itself and giving a good description of what people can expect when they come. So keep it right here, you don’t want to miss it.
