#15 Kentucky sweeps #5 Tennessee 75-64

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky has now won three in a row against Tennessee and has swept the regular season after a nine point victory on Tuesday night. It marks their ninth quad-one win and seventh top-15 victory this season.

Back on January 28th, when the cats defeated the vols in Knoxville, Kentucky shot 50% from both the field and the three. Impressively, the same shooting took place on Tuesday night at Rupp Arena.

Freshman contributions played a big role in Kentucky’s win. Trent Noah played a big role in the last matchup against Tennessee, and an even bigger role on Tuesday. The freshman recorded a season-high 11 points and three three-pointers. Travis Perry tallied a season-high eight points, draining two three-pointers.

Koby Brea also knocked down three treys in key moments. He hit a well-tested three when the cats were trailing 60-58 to give Kentucky the lead for good.

Ansley Almonor and Otega Oweh led the team with 13 points each. Oweh continues his streak of double figure scoring in every game this season. Almonor’s 13 points was also a season-high.

The cats defense continued to build after a strong performance against South Carolina. Kentucky limited the Tennessee to 43% shooting and 17% from the three (3-18).

The cats were without Jaxson Robinson, who sustained a wrist injury last Friday in practice. Mark Pope said postgame that he is “not sure he will be back any time soon.”

Lamont Butler went down with a shoulder injury in the second half and sought attention in the locker room. His status is still unknown.

Kentucky heads to Austin, Texas to take on the longhorns on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
