Missing 74-year-old Wayne County woman found injured but alive

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A 74-year-old Wayne County woman who was reported missing Wednesday has been found injured but alive, according to a Facebook post from Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron.

The woman was first reported missing around 8 a.m. on February 6, when a neighbor contacted Wayne County 911 Dispatch saying the woman had not been seen since the previous afternoon and did not show up for dinner. That’s when law enforcement began searching the area for the woman and her vehicle.

The post said the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office searched the Nancy, Kentucky area, including the National Cemetery where her husband is buried, but was unable to locate her. A Golden Alert was issued for the missing woman.

Meanwhile, according to the post, the 911 Center received a call from a woman on Spann Hill Water Tower Road in Wayne County after her 5-year-old granddaughter noticed a parked vehicle behind their home. The caller reported seeing a woman lying in a field, entangled in a barbed wire fence, said the sheriff’s post.

Wayne County Emergency Services and the Wayne County Rescue Squad, freed the woman from the fence and she was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment.

At this time, her condition remains unknown.`
