Suspect in custody after deadly Berea shooting

The victim was found shot on Baldwin street

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A suspect considered armed and dangerous is now in custody after a deadly shooting Monday night in Berea. According to the Berea Police Department, 75-year-old Steven Gerlaugh was taken into custody overnight.

The search for Gerlaugh began after a shooting on Baldwin street. Police said Gerlaugh was wanted for questioning.

According to officers, Gerlaugh was believed to be driving a white 4-door Toyota Camry with a KY license plate M5K157.

According to the Madison County Coroner, a man died around 9 p.m. after he was shot around 8.p.m. on Baldwin street.  The coroner said the victim’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
