Man charged in Pike County shooting and drug trafficking investigation

HUDDY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday, January 23, at the Forest Trace apartments in the Huddy community of Pike County.

According to a release from KSP, officers responded to a 911 call about the incident and found a man, Chad Hurley, had been shot. Investigators believe Carson Jones, 45, of Stone, fired a gun, striking Hurley. Hurley was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the investigation, Jones was arrested and is currently being held at the Pike County Detention Center. He is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Possession of a Defaced Firearm
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Fentanyl)
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree
