Three new confirmed cases of whooping cough in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Lexington Fayette-County Health Department says three new cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, were confirmed last week.

75 cases have now been confirmed since the start of the outbreak in April.

According to the health department, pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory illness spread by coughing and sneezing.
