New industrial park planned for central Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government has announced a partnership with the City of Berea, Madison County, and Scott County to establish a regional business park, marking a historic multi-county economic development project in Central Kentucky.
The park will be located in Berea, within the 300-acre Menelaus Industrial Park area. This initiative is the first public, multi-county collaboration of its kind in the region. According to officials, the development aims to bring significant economic benefits, including job creation and tax revenue, to the participating areas.
Each city involved will receive 33% of the tax revenues generated by the business park. The project has also secured $5.5 million in funding, which will be allocated to the development of the site.
Mayor Linda Gorton says the project will provide both jobs and tax revenue for improvements throughout the city.
Officials anticipate the regional business park will attract businesses to Central Kentucky, boosting the local economy and enhancing opportunities for residents.
