Lexington PRIDE Festival held downtown

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Emily Young thought there wouldn’t be a better time to pop the question to girlfriend Angie Williams.

“I’ve been wanting to propose to her for a while now and I figured PRIDE would probably be the best place to do it,” said Young.

They’re just two of the many taking on the scorching summer heat and trying to stay cool for PRIDE fest.

The heat didn’t stop vendors from taking advantage of what festival organizers believe was a crowd of up to 25,000 people.

According to organizers, the festival began as just a small gathering on a family farm 11 years ago, and is now an all day extravaganza.

“There’s so many people out there who really don’t see the love and acceptance that people feel for them and sometimes they might feel really alone. It’s really great there’s a whole festival in this part of the United States that devotes themselves to that,” said Shana Beck, who’s attending PRIDE for the second time.
