Federal fugitive arrested in Laurel Co.
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — A federal fugitive was arrested by Laurel County deputies Thursday morning.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Eddie Simpson, of London, was arrested after deputies were made aware of his whereabouts.
Deputies went to the area and found a vehicle being driven by Simpson and upon turning to locate the vehicle, found it abandoned off Liberty Cir. Road with the driver having fled the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Simpson was charged with fleeing or evading police on foot, 1st degree; resisting arrest; disorderly conduct, 2nd degree; and menacing.
In addition, he was charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest for fleeing or evading police by motor vehicle, 1st degree; and reckless driving – regarding a traffic stop incident on July 8th.
Simpson was also wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service on federal charges of selling amphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
