NTSB releases report on Nicholasville aircraft crash
Crash claimed lives of 72-year-old husband and wife team near Ashgrove Road
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its preliminary findings on last month’s deadly powered parachute crash that killed a 72-year-old husband and wife in Nicholasville.
The crash occurred on October 27 near a remote grass airstrip off Ashgrove Road. Investigators say the powered parachute crashed nose-first, coming to a stop about 30 feet away from the initial impact.
According to the report, the engine remained attached to the aircraft, but all three propeller blades were damaged. No indications of fire were found at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
