Seven young dogs rescued after being abandoned
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 News Now) — Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control is urging the community to take action against animal cruelty after officers rescued seven dogs abandoned in a car last week.
According to officials, officers responded to a concerned citizen’s call about a “car full of dogs” abandoned in an industrial area. After days of searching, authorities located and rescued seven young dogs of various breeds and ages from the vehicle.
While the dogs are now safe and receiving care, Animal Care and Control emphasized that not all abandoned animals are as fortunate. Authorities are reminding pet owners that abandoning animals is not only cruel but also illegal, with potential legal consequences.
Officials say if you are unable to care for your pets, you can reach out to local shelters or organizations to ensure the pets are provided the proper care.
The rescued dogs are currently under the care of local animal services. For more information on how to report animal cruelty or seek assistance, contact Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control at (859) 255-9033.
