Suspect killed and police officers taken to hospital after shooting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — One person has died, and two police officers were taken to a hospital after a shooting at a mental health facility in Bowling Green on Wednesday.

According to state police, the suspect was killed, and the two officers were shot yesterday morning while responding to a call about a person having a mental health crisis at a Lifeskills Center.

Investigators say while on scene, the person allegedly attacked the officers and grabbed a hold of one of their guns and fired shots in their direction.

Police say a second officer returned fire, hitting and killing the suspect.

Both officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
