Mother accused of leaving child in hot car

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman was arrested in Pikeville after police say she left her three-year old son in a hot car while she went into a store.

Investigators say 30-year old Tina Hamilton told police she left the boy in the car while she went into a drug store to fill a prescription.  When she came out, she was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, according to police.

Investigators say when they got to the little boy, he was sweating profusely.  Police say the temperature in the car was 114-degrees.  The air temperature outside at the time was 90-degrees, according to police.

Investigators say when they found the boy, the front two windows of the car were rolled down but the car was not running.
