Laurel County standoff leads to arrest

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Laurel County man is behind bars following a standoff with deputies early Tuesday morning.

According to officials, 47-year-old Delbert Cox was arrested after allegedly firing shots into an unoccupied car.

When they arrived at the scene, deputies discovered that Cox had barricaded himself inside a building and refused to surrender. The standoff ended shortly after, with Cox being taken into custody without further incident.

Cox is now facing charges of criminal mischief, menacing, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is currently held at the Laurel County Correctional Center.
