Suspect In Hit and Run Involving Officer Arrested
Police said a man cleaned his car of evidence and drove it out of state after hitting a Lexington police officer on horseback last week.
William Grimes, 45, was arrested Sunday afternoon.
An arrest citation said Grimes was entering information in his GPS when he hit a mounted patrol on Main Street Thursday night.
The officer was thrown from his horse and suffered minor injuries.
The horse suffered bruises and scrapes.
According to the citation, after hitting the officer, Grimes took off, went to his house and cleaned the car of evidence.
They said he then drove it out of state.
Grimes is charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence.
