School threats continue disrupting classes

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — State officials are speaking out after numerous reports of school threats across the Commonwealth continue to disrupt classes.

Since Monday, officials say at least 12 counties in the state have had school days disrupted from these reporter school threats. Some of those counties include Garrard, Boyle and Anderson counties.

Police say several young suspects have been arrested in connection to the threats.

Governor Andy Beshear addressed this issue in his Team Kentucky press conference; he said schools are taking the necessary steps to keep students safe with required school resource officers.

“I’m proud of the work our schools have done. The most recent report on school safety shows significant increase over the past several years with SRO’s on campus,” Governor Beshear said. “Changes in security have come a long way.”
