Bengals fall for third straight year in season opener
CINCINATTI, OH. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Bengals fans were hoping that the actual NFL season would not be a reflection of the preseason, but unfortunately, that was not the case on Sunday when the Bengals fell 16-10 to the Patriots in front of a packed home crowd at Paycor Stadium.
The Bengals rushed a total of 196 yards in all three preseason matchups combined. On Sunday, the run game wasn’t any more impressive. Cincinnati rushed a total of 70 yards, compared to New England’s 170 yards.
Joe Burrow was in good health at the quarterback position. He went 21 for 29, throwing a total of 164 yds.
What hurt the Bengals more than the run game was two crucial turnovers, both resulting in a field goal for New England. Without those field goals, the game could have been tied.
The Bengals head to Kansas City on Sunday to face off against the Chiefs. Kickoff is set for 4:25 pm.
