Lexington Fire Department investigates cause of two overnight fires

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Two separate fire incidents occurred overnight Friday in Lexington, keeping fire crews busy into the early morning hours.

The first fire broke out just before midnight in a two-car detached garage with a large metal carport on Courtland Drive, near Hi Crest Drive and Raleigh Road. According to the Lexington Fire Department, crews were on the scene for several hours, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

In a second incident, a fire on Waller Avenue and Elizabeth Street resulted in road closures around 1 a.m. According to police, the fire began when a car crashed into a pole and caught fire. Shortly afterward, a second car collided with the first vehicle. Both drivers reportedly left the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities are continuing to investigate both incidents.
