Arrest made in connection with shooting of Lexington woman
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred near Seventh Street and Florida Street earlier this week.
On Wednesday, around 6:30 a.m., officers were sent to the area following reports of a shooting. When they got there, they found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had left the scene before officers arrived.
Police have since arrested 42-year-old April Newby in connection with the shooting. Newby has been charged with Assault 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Possession of Synthetic Drugs 1st Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
