Laurel County man sentenced for murder in officer’s death

UPDATE: Casey Byrd received a 20 year sentence for killing London Police Officer Logan Medlock in a DUI crash, that happened in 2022.

LONDON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Sentencing is scheduled for Monday in Laurel County for Casey Byrd, a man convicted of killing London Police Officer Logan Medlock in a DUI crash.

Earlier this month, a jury found Byrd guilty of murder in connection with the 2022 death of Officer Medlock. According to investigators, Byrd was driving drunk on South Main Street in London when he struck and killed Officer Medlock.

The jury has recommended a sentence of 20 years in prison for Byrd.
