Homelessness “Call to Action” hosted by Catholic Action Center
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Catholic Action Center in Lexington is hosting a ‘Call to Action’ event tonight in collaboration with church leaders to address the pressing issue of homelessness. The event is being held in response to the ‘Safer Kentucky Act,’ which became law this summer, banning homeless individuals from camping on streets.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. at Consolidated Baptist Church on Russell Cave Road. Among the key topics to be discussed are short-term housing solutions, sanctuary parking, and support for students without homes.
The Fayette County Public School District reported that more than a thousand homeless students were identified during the last school year, highlighting the critical need for community support and intervention.
