18-year-old and 13-year-old killed in crash in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Two teenagers lost their lives in a tragic crash over the weekend in Lexington. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 13-year-old Omar Shalash and 18-year-old Hasan Mohammad Hasan. The fatal crash occurred early Saturday morning near the intersection of Tates Creek Road and Turkey Foot Road.

According to investigators, several other individuals were also injured in the accident, though their conditions have not been released.

Omar Shalash was an 8th-grader at Lexington Universal Academy, according to school officials. The school community and the families of the victims are mourning the sudden loss of these young lives.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
