Masai Russell wins gold in 100m hurdles

PARIS, FRANCE (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – 2023 Kentucky graduate Masai Russell won gold in the 100m hurdles on Saturday, finishing with a time of 12.33 seconds. The first time Olympian won in a photo finish by just one one-hundredth of a second.

Prior to her Olympic debut, Russel set the world-leading time of 12.25 seconds at the US Olympic Team Trials to secure the gold medalist her spot in Paris.

Also running in the 100m hurdles final was Volunteer Assistant Coach Devynne Charlton, who finished in sixth place with a time of 12.56 seconds.
