Lexington Government Center to close early Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Government Center in downtown Lexington will close an hour early on Wednesday for an elevator inspection. City officials announced that the building, located on East Main Street, will shut its doors at 4 p.m. to allow state officials to inspect and test the building’s recently updated elevators.

The inspection is a necessary procedure to ensure the safety and functionality of the three elevators in the facility. The nearby LexServ office will also close at 4 p.m. as part of this coordinated effort.

Residents and visitors are advised to plan accordingly and complete any necessary business at the Government Center before the early closure. The city will provide updates if there are any changes to the schedule or additional information about the inspection.
