Boone County Swat Team arrests barricaded suspect

HEBRON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office reported deploying a SWAT team this weekend to a home in Hebron after a man barricaded himself inside, threatening to kill a hostage.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call on Saturday about a domestic dispute involving 30-year-old Richard Kelly. Kelly allegedly brandished a handgun and threatened to harm the victim if she tried to leave.

The victim managed to escape safely, but Kelly remained barricaded in the home for hours. After several failed negotiation attempts, the SWAT team was called in and successfully placed Kelly under arrest.

Richard Kelly now faces multiple charges, including one count of third-degree terroristic threatening.
