LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36) — Debbie Blair, a local pet owner grappling with the loss of her dog in a recent canine altercation, is finally gaining clarity.

When Blair visited the Jacobson Dog Park on Friday, her small dog was fatally attacked by a larger canine. In her efforts to rescue her pet, Blair sustained injuries herself.

Amid the chaos at the time of incident, Blair says she wasn’t able to get the other dog owner’s contact details, but is concerned about the attacking dog’s vaccination status.

“They [Emergency Room] recommended they go to the ER who said that I should have the series of rabies shots, and I don’t want to, if I don’t have to. I don’t wanna go through more trauma,” said Blair.

On Tuesday, Blair shared with ABC 36, that Lexington-Fayette Animal Control and Care had successfully connected with the dog’s owner. Today, she reported progress in verifying the dog’s rabies vaccination status.
