Five Wildcats named to Preseason Media Days All-SEC Teams

DALLAS, Tx. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Five Kentucky Wildcats are on the Preseason SEC Media Days teams as voted by the media at the annual event that kicks off football season in the southeast.

First Team

Deone Walker, a junior defensive lineman, is on the first-team defensive team. He is joined by cornerback Maxwell Hairston.

Last season, Walker had 28 solo tackles, 7.5 sacks and has garnered two preseason second team All-American watch list honors.

Hairston is coming off of a season where he had five interceptions and over 50 solo tackles.

Junior wide receiver and kick returner, Barion Brown, is on the first team as a return specialist.

Third Team

Brown also has a spot on the third team as an all-purpose player. He is one of the prominent returners on the Kentucky team. Brown caught over 500 yards of passes in 2023 and hauled in four touchdowns.

He is joined by offensive lineman Marques Cox, who is entering his second year as a Wildcat, and linebacker Jamon “Pop” Dumas-Johnson. Last season as a Bulldog, Dumas-Johnson had 29 solo tackles and 3.5 sacks.
