Couple sets out to visit every Texas Roadhouse in America

A record 2 decades in the making

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Judy and Mike McNamara, residents of Virginia, have redefined the term “regular customer.” They shared with ABC 36 their ambitious goal to visit every Texas Roadhouse location across the United States.

Thursday, the McNamara’s made a special stop at the Texas Roadhouse in Georgetown, where a welcoming sign awaited them. This wasn’t Judy and Mikes first visit—far from it.

In fact, they’ve accomplished an incredible feat: visiting 446 different Texas Roadhouse locations nationwide. Their journey has spanned across 48 states; the lone holdout is Alaska, as Hawaii doesn’t have a Texas Roadhouse location.

Their stop in Georgetown marks a milestone two decades in the making.

“Our very first one was 2003 in Knoxville Tennessee, when she retired at the end of 2017 we’d been to 37, not an impressive score at that point,” he said. “We went to 72 in 2020, last year was 79, this year is going to be over 80,” said Mike McNamara.

After their first visit, what made them want to visit 445 more times?

“I guess the food was good, back in those day the peanut holes were all over the floors, we’ve enjoyed it and now it’s comfort,” said Mike McNamara.

While every location is different, the one thing that stays the same for the McNamara’s is who they’re sitting across from. Each meal, side by side, they told ABC 36 their Roadhouse record wasn’t their only impressive milestone.

“We’re going to have to slow down soon enough because of our age, but not right now. We’re both 71 one years, we’ve been married 52 years,” said Mike McNamara.

Their dedication extends beyond dining: they proudly shared photos of their dog Andy, named after the iconic Andy Armadillo mascot of Texas Roadhouse. They even showed off their meticulously kept list of visits thus far.

After ABC 36’s interview, they sat down to enjoy their meal—number 446—at Texas Roadhouse.
