“GOFUNDME” created for mass shooting victims in Florence

BOONE COUNTY, Ky. — Community members are rallying to support the families of the victims killed in the tragic mass shooting over the weekend in Northern Kentucky. GoFundMe accounts have been set up to help cover funeral expenses for the victims, and so far, significant funds have been raised.

As of now, more than $48,000 has been raised for the family of 44-year-old Melissa Parrett, more than $23,000 for the family of 20-year-old Shane Miller, and nearly $10,000 for the family of 19-year-old Delaney Eary.

In addition, more than $12,000 has been raised to assist Claire Smith, one of the shooting victims who survived. According to her GoFundMe page, Smith is currently in the ICU at a hospital in Cincinnati.

The tragic event occurred on Saturday when police say 21-year-old Chase Garvey allegedly shot seven people, killing four, at a home on Ridgecrest Drive in Florence. Garvey later died after shooting himself following a police chase.

The community continues to show strong support for the victims and their families during this difficult time.
