UPDATE: Man arrested in connection to early afternoon homicide; victim identified

UPDATE: The Fayette County Coroner identified the victim as 57-year-old Charles McDowell, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Police Department says they made an arrest in a homicide case that happened early this afternoon on Old Georgetown Street.

Officers were sent to the 190 block of Old Georgetown Street on Friday, June 21, 2024, around 11:50 a.m. for an assault with a weapon.

Once they arrived, officers found a man suffering from blunt force trauma.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office pronounced the victim dead on scene.

Officers arrested 55-year-old Roger Wiley and charged him with Murder and Assault in the 2nd Degree. Wiley is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim following further investigation.
