Parents and Grandparent of Miya Rudd plead not guilty

OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The parents and a grandparent of an infant found dead last week are pleading not guilty to charges related to her death.

Kentucky State Police announced 29-year-old Tesla Tucker, 30-year-old Cage Rudd, 56-year-old Ricky Smith, and another suspect, 28-year-old Brodie Payne, have all been charged in connection with the death of 8-month-old Miya Rudd. The suspects entered not guilty pleas in court Monday to charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and failure to report the death of a person.

Investigators revealed that a total of eight people have been arrested in the case. The decomposed body of the baby was discovered on Friday inside a home, hidden under a pile of debris. Miya had been missing since April. Additionally, investigators found meth residue in a room with a crib and diapers.

State police indicated that more charges could be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
