National Bourbon Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Today, Friday, June 14 is National Bourbon Day.

Bourbon is America’s only native spirit. The popular drink can be traced back to the 1700s.

One major ingredient to the spirit is corn. In fact, bourbon must be made up of at least 51 percent corn in order to be declared, ‘true bourbon’.

The spirit can be produced anywhere in the country, but about 95 percent of all bourbon is made in Kentucky.
