Storm damage assessment training in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Fire Department is conducting a storm damage assessment exercise Wednesday, June 12, in the Masterson Station neighborhood of Lexington.

The exercise will allow responders to practice their damage assessment training with the correct tools and procedures in a large area.

Severe storms have impacted Kentucky residents recently. As storms increase, the benefits of the exercise increase as well.

The training creates a more efficient response when a disaster happens.

Those who participate in the exercise might be seen walking on sidewalks or streets in the area. The Lexington Fire Department says not to worry if you see responders in the area as they are just training.

For any questions or concerns that you may have about the damage assessment exercise, you can contact Special Operations Battalion Chief Chris Ward at cward@lexingtonky.gov.
