Woodford County man arrested for allegedly sharing pictures of child sex abuse online
VERSAILLES, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch has arrested Chad A. Swiger, 43, on charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Swiger’s arrest, which occurred on June 6, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m., stems from an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation conducted by the KSP Electronic Crime Branch. The investigation was initiated after the suspect was found sharing images of child sexual exploitation online, according to KSP.
Following their investigation, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in Versailles on the same day. Equipment believed to have been used in the commission of the crime was seized and sent to KSP’s forensic laboratory for further examination. The investigation remains ongoing.
Currently, Swiger faces twenty counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years old, along with ten counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years old. These charges are Class-C felonies, carrying a penalty of five to ten years in prison. Swiger has been detained at the Woodford County Detention Center.
