Celebrating 100 years of Kentucky state parks

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Parks is marking a significant milestone this year as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. Back in June 1924, the State General Assembly established a Park Commission tasked with identifying suitable park sites of natural significance or with important state or national history.

The result of this endeavor was the establishment of Pine Mountain, Natural Bridge, Fort Harrod, and Blue & Gray State Parks as the first four Kentucky State Parks.

To honor this centennial, Kentucky State Parks has planned special events, activities, and more throughout the remainder of the year. Stay updated on upcoming news, events, and celebrations by visiting their website here.
