Governor Beshear Issues State of Emergency
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Early Monday morning, Governor Andy Beshear issued a state of emergency from the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center in Frankfort. The declaration follows reports of widespread wind damage and tornadoes across the state.
In a post on X, Governor Beshear confirmed that at least one additional person has died due to the severe weather. He urged residents to exercise caution while traveling.
“Make sure you stay safe. We have a lot of roads that are blocked by trees and some roads that are flooded out. Don’t drive through a flooded road. Also, power lines are down in many parts of Kentucky; do not go near them,” said Beshear.
The Governor will provide more information on the storm damage later on Monday.
