Lightning blamed for several fires Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lightning was blamed for two fires in Lexington and one in Pulaski County on Friday.

Lexington fire investigators say lightning hit University Trails apartments on Red Mile Road around 7:20 p.m.  Four units were damaged and several tenants were displaced, according to a report in the Lexington Herald-Leader.

A single-family home was also hit by lightning on Meadow Valley Road in Lexington around 8:40 p.m.  There was no significant damage to the house, according to the newspaper report.

In Pulaski County, a hay barn was destroyed when it caught fire after being hit by lightning Friday evening, according to a Facebook post by the Waco Fire Department.  A picture posted online shows the barn fully engulfed in flames.
