Jessamine County man dies in Letcher County crash

Payne Gap, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Jessamine County man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in the Payne Gap community of Letcher County.

Kentucky State Police say troopers were called to the crash on US 119 North just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

State Police say 36-year-old Shelly Damron, of Ashcamp, was traveling south on US 119 in an SUV when he crossed the centerline and struck a pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Craig Carter, of Whitesburg.

A passenger in the truck, 32-year-old Joshua Carter, of Nicholasville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shelly Damron and Craig Carter were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say there were no apparent contributing factors to the accident but they are still awaiting toxicology results.
