Charges dropped against Lexington council member Tayna Fogle
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- In a turn of events earlier Tuesday (4/30), all charges against Lexington Council Member Tayna Fogle were dropped. Fogle had been facing charges of third-degree criminal trespassing, menacing, and resisting arrest stemming from an incident back in March.
During the court proceedings, the prosecutor handling her case requested the judge to dismiss all charges against Fogle. Following the judge’s decision, Fogle expressed feelings of vindication but also emphasized that she harbors no ill will towards the officer or the Lexington Police Department, involved in her arrest.
The charges against Fogle originated from an incident at an AT&T store on Richmond Road, where police were called to handle a disorderly situation. However, with the case dismissed, a sense of relief and joy swept through the courtroom. Supporters of Fogle erupted into applause, while others shed tears, shared hugs, offered prayers, and even sang as they exited the courtroom.
Looking ahead, Fogle says she intends to refocus her efforts on advocating for the members of her community, continuing her work despite the recent legal ordeal.
